This blog is simply the story about my little life
with my sweet family that the Lord has blessed me with
and the day in, day out things that we do.
It basically is my online diary/photo album of our life.
I'm glad you're here!

A beautiful first light hike with my son

My eldest son, Mackenzie, moved to Colorado last July and we have been so blessed that he has been able to come home to visit his son, Ridley, once a month. He stays at our house when he's here and I love being able to catch up with him. When he was here last weekend, we had a wonderful first light hike up a local mountain. He actually was just planning this little hike by himself to try and get some great photos and I asked if I could come along and he said sure!
We wanted to be at the summit at the predicted 6:40 sunrise. We arrived at the base of the mountain at 6:20 and started our ascent.
He is a great photographer and does photography work for a living. He was giving me lots of tips. I was just using my phone camera and he has several different cameras and several different lens. He's got me talked into getting a real camera!
The city is still sleeping.
It's so pretty.
We saw lots of wild flowers.
We walked, talked, laughed and took photos. It was awesome.
The dew was was still wet.
We got some amazing shots.
We took pictures of a lot of the same things. I would love to see the comparison of his work to mine and his high tech camera to mine! I'm sure his photos are outstanding and prizeworthy!
This mountain hike is so beautiful. We were in a very wooded area and then all the sudden it opened up to this expansive prairie-like area with this beautiful tree in the center.
When we got to the summit we were a little bummed out because it was overcast and we did not get to see a pretty sunrise.
We still enjoyed it though!
It felt really good to get out and get the exercise too!
I love this pretty canopy of trees.
It's so quiet and peaceful here.
Baby ferns growing in the moss on the side of a tree.
I had the idea to take this photo of this wild daffodil from the underside showing the big trees in the background.
I was really flattered when my son, the professional photographer, copied my idea! He laughed and teased me acting like it was his idea saying, "I'm really glad I had that idea for that shot". He's so funny.
Here's a wild camas.
Sword fern.
We kept walking to the other side of the mountain and then headed back.
Love him.
Another view from the top.
Here's that big maple tree again at the summit.
Amazing big old fir trees.
Wild iris.
Getting that perfect shot! I am so proud of him. I love him very much. He is a really great person, works hard and is so talented. I enjoy him so much.
We were done and heading home by 8:00. What a great time we had!
I will never forget this amazing hike I had with my firstborn son. It was just so special and one of those moments a mother keeps close to her heart.

"You shall teach them (God's words) diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up." Deuteronomy 6:7

"Arise, walk about the land through its length and breadth; for I will give it to you." Genesis 13:17
