This blog is simply the story about my little life
with my sweet family that the Lord has blessed me with
and the day in, day out things that we do.
It basically is my online diary/photo album of our life.
I'm glad you're here!

Egg in toast...

I was watching the movie, Moonstruck, and Cher's mother in the movie was making egg in toast and it looked so delicious, I thought I'd try it. I googled the recipe and it's actually very easy.
First you take a piece of bread and place a drinking glass over it and smash down and turn it a few times. A biscuit cutter or large cookie cutter would work too. It would be fun to use a heart-shaped cookie cutter!
Pull the glass out and......
...you have a perfect circle for the egg to go in. Save that circle of bread though!
Next you lightly brown the toast on each side in butter or oil. The first time I made these I put the circle of bread back in the hole, but then realized that I need the hole to be empty in order to put the egg in there! When I flipped the bread, I took out the center.
Once the bread is lightly toasted, break an egg and place in the center of the bread.
Cook for a couple of minute until it starts to look a little done and then flip it to cook the other side.
Mmmm! It turned out delicious!
What a great new way to start our day!

Sweet dreams!!!

At Christmastime when my husband and I were supposed to be shopping for our family, we walked by the Sleep Number Bed store and my husband said, "Do you want to go in? We've been wanting a new bed for a long time."
I said, "Well, we're supposed to be shopping for our kids, not ourselves, but hey, what the heck?"
So we went in. Within two minutes we were laying on the beds trying them out.
This feels good.
Eric, you go talk to the salesman.....
...I'll stay here. haha
We tried out all of their models and found one we liked.

It sure feels good. Wake me up when you're done honey.
We actually have been wanting to get a new bed for at least a year now because we both wake up with terrible back pain.  The mattress that we currently have was a very good one and we paid a lot of money for it, but it started hurting our backs after just a year and you can see divots in the bed where we lay. It has a pillow top on it, so we cannot flip it. We did, however, spin it, but it didn't help much and we really needed a new bed. We had done some research on these Sleep Number beds and it was fate that we walked by the store. haha
So, within 15 minutes we made our decision, signed the paperwork and set a delivery date. It all happened so fast! Merry Christmas to us!!!
So a few weeks ago on my lunch break I came home just in time to see the guys delivering it.
It's basically a bunch of foam with a high tech air matress.
It looks very nice and sturdy.
Now we just need to find our magic numbers!
We've been sleeping on it for about three weeks now and we have decided that we like it. The first week was rough trying to figure out our numbers, but through trial and error we figured it out. I like it a little more firm at 65 and Eric prefers it a little bit softer at 45.

In the beginning I was really cold when I slept. I'm guessing this is from the air in the mattress, but I'm not sure. I finally bought a heated mattress pad and I've been sleeping like a baby! I should have had a heated mattress pad years ago. I turn it on full blast about an hour before I go to bed and I get to crawl into a wonderfully cozy warm bed. I then turn it down to about midway so that I don't get hot in the middle of the night. It's a dual control, so Eric's happy and I'm happy!

Sweet Dreams!!!

I'm popular!!! haha

This is what we came home to after midnight on New Year's Eve.
We've been hit!
My husband immediately started cleaning it up and I said, "Oh, leave it honey, it's for Hayden and we should let him see it when he gets home." So Eric left it.
This is what it looked like the next day.
I posted something on Faecbook that we got hit with a great TP job, but we know it's for Hayden, so he'll be cleaning it up.
I was actually suspecious because this was not a typical TP job. With our four sons, we have been TPd plenty of times over the years and I have never seen such a spectacular job!
It was drapped carefully over things...
...and tied nicely on other things....
...and it was good quality two-ply TP! haha. I started to question if this was indeed the work of a high schooler or not.
However, they were careless criminals and left evidence....a big pink piece of bubble gum with their DNA all over it! haha
Later I looked on Facebook and a friend from work wrote

"Um. Miss Sharon. I do believe I know the TPers
And I believe you were the target
and it was done in love"

Ah-ha! I knew I was right!!! I have not personally been TP'd since my high school days.  Hey...wait a minute....if this was intended for me....you know what that means... it means...I'm popular! haha
Hayden came home and started to take pictures to post on Facebook thinking it was his friends who did it, and I said, "Uh, sorry, but it's not for you, it was for me!" haha we both laughed. Since it was for me, I cleaned it all up secretly singing, "I got tee-peee'd, I'm popular, I got Tee peee'd I'm popular...lalalala" hee hee.

A Happy New Year dinner for two!

Welcome to Sharion's Restaurant. We are a friendly, corner neighborhood place. We have an ever-changing menu and specialize in romantic dinners for two with seasonal place settings!  You will always get a table in front of the fireplace here! hee hee
I set a very romantic New Year's themed table for two for my husband and I. We went out to dinner with our family on New Year's eve, so we did this dinner a few weeks later.
The main theme of the table is "Special Starry Night in Paris" and the main colors are gold, silver and black.
I wanted it to feel jubilant and joyful for New Year's and stars seemed perfect. I found these cute star napkins and napkin rings at a thrift store.
I layered our plates starting with gold chargers, then a black plate and then these cute white plates with little gold stars all over them.
I just love thrift stores. I set the table in the morning and then went to town to run errands and grocery shop. I stopped in at a thrift store and could not believe it when I found a set of gold flatware! They actually only had a hodgepodge of pieces, but when I picked through them, I found a perfect set for two! I also got two serving pieces as well! The best part? They were only .25 cents each, so I only paid $4.00 for all of it.
It's not my favorite pattern, but it worked for this night and now I will just be on the look out for a another set that I like. :0) The gold flatware looks so great with this tablescape!
I also used these fun Eiffel Tower statues that I have. What could be more romantic that an intimate New Year's dinner for two in Paris?
Here's an enchanting Eiffel Tower votive lamp.
What's a new year's dinner without champagne?
These salt and pepper shakers are soooo cool! They remind me of tall Art Deco inspired sky-scrappers. You push the top, which is actually a button and the salt or pepper comes out the bottom. They are so cool. I found them at Goodwill for $1.99!
Time for dinner!
I made broiled pork-chops served on a pretty star platter with a beautiful gold serving fork!
Curried couscous.
Stir-fried veggies!
Garlic bread!
It all looks so appetizing!
The lighting is so romantic!
What a delicious meal!
Hubby loved it too!
I'm stuffed!
We both agree...Sharino's is a great place to eat!
