This blog is simply the story about my little life
with my sweet family that the Lord has blessed me with
and the day in, day out things that we do.
It basically is my online diary/photo album of our life.
I'm glad you're here!

College football!

Here's my son in his college football uniform! We're so proud! He's number 32! I really like that number! He doesn't think he'll be playing much in the first game, but that's okay. I'd rather him get the proper training and coaching to prepare him for this level of playing. He's been adjusting quite well to his new life living on campus at college. We have not seen him since August 4th and miss him very much. My husband and I are so proud of him and we can't wait to see him play!

I want to stop a minute and give thanks to God for answering our prayers and opening the doors for this wonderful opportunity for our son. Hayden is so excited and he is so happy that he is actually living his dream of playing college football! God is so faithful and so good!

I'm still walking!

I walk three times a week for about an hour.
I walk with my neighbor and good friend, Shelley.
We walk and talk for three miles!
We've done this for 4 years now.
I get my physical exercise
and my therapy & counseling for free!
It's so good for my heart and lungs
and helps keep the weight off.
It's also great for my soul and well being!
If you don't exercise regularly...
...I want to encourage you to do so.
Find something that works for you.
And if you can, do it with a friend!
Don't make it hard on yourself,
or there's a good chance you won't do it.
It's not always easy getting up and out to do this,
but I ALWAYS feel awesome when I come back home!

Mornings walks....priceless!

"Teach me Thy way, O Lord; I will walk in Thy truth.
Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor You."

New faucet.....

We got a new faucet and I love it!
It started kind of bad though. It happened a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon; I was doing the dishes when I noticed that the rug in front of the sink was completely saturated. I opened the cabinets under the sink and there standing water under there! I thought "What in the world? Where did all of this water come from?" I looked up at the pipes and I saw a steady dripping of water. I knew this was beyond my scope of expertise, so I walked up to the garden where my hubby was working and informed him of what was going on.
He quickly came into the house to assess the situation and realized it was going to be a big project. He recruited our son, Hayden, to assist him with the project.
This became so involved because they realized the old faucet was completely broken underneath, but when then went to unscrew the bolts, they were rusted together. They started working on trying to get the darn thing out of there.
Meanwhile, I ran to the local hardware store and picked up a new faucet. We live in a small town and our hardware store does not have a whole lot of choices, but I was very happy that they had this pretty one!
Meanwhile, Eric and Hayden kept plugging away at it. They absolutely could not get the old faucet off.  They used all kinds of tools including a hammer and even a saw and finally got it off!
Then they installed the new one. I was so proud of Hayden for stepping up and helping his Dad so much. He really helped Eric and it was a great learning experience for Hayden!
I found this picture of the old faucet. It was just a standard, utilitarian run of the mill faucet.
I love this new one. It has a little bit of style and the chrome is so shiny and pretty!
Also, the sprayer works!!! Our other sprayer never did work right, it would only dribble and the main faucet kept running when we used the sprayer. This one works perfectly ad I'm thrilled!
I'm so thankful for my new faucet and I'm so thankful that my handy husband was home when the old one broke and that Hayden was home to assist Eric. I'm also thankful that my husband has the skill and knowledge needed to fix it because we saved a lot of money by not calling a plumber!

Summer mornings in my house....

Don't you just love waking up to a sunny kitchen on a summer morning?
Well, I usually wake up when it's still dark outside, but I love it when the sun catches up with me and streams through my kitchen windows.
I love the traditional things that say summer around my house, such as a bowl of fresh grapes.
And yummy avocados sunning themselves in the windowsill.
It just puts me in a good mood when the sun is shining.
I love my cozy house!
I love to wake up to a clean kitchen!
Kitchen love.
I like looking out our french doors to see the sun shining on the deck.
I also like the way the morning light filters through the lace in the dining room window.
Home sweet home!
One of my favorite parts of summer is to be able to open the front door and have the screen door there, allowing the cool fresh morning air into the house.
Oh...sad...I took this picture before Hayden moved out and you can see his little red truck parked out in front of our house.
Morning sunshine, filtered light and shadows in the master bedroom.
Morning in the office.
Love it!

Wishing you a wonderful morning and a great day!

"Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul." Psalm 143:8

Exciting news!!!!

They're back together!!!! My son, Cameron, got back together with his girlfriend, Megan!!!! They have known each other for about four years. They met while working at a department store. Click here to read about how they met. They first became a couple back in November of 2010, click here to read that story, but sadly, they broke up in March of 2011 click here to read about the sad day when they broke up.

After they broke up they did remain friends, but they really did not talk, however,  they did see each other once in awhile at work or with their group of friends. I was very sad. I felt like she was great for him and visa/versa, but I was just quiet about the subject and gave it to the Lord in prayer.

Then last winter things started heating up again between them.
I started getting suspicious that things were moving forward for them when I saw these photos of them together at a friend's birthday party.
You can just see their chemistry.
I especially love this picture of them dancing (please excuse the couple who are dirty dancing behind them! haha). Isn't Megan's dress darling! They look like they are having so much fun!

After seeing the pictures above on facebook, I was not surprised at all when Cameron told me he was getting interested in Megan again. He told me the whole time they were broke up that he always had a soft spot in his heart for her. He said he went on one coffee date with another girl and that's what made him realize the wonderful woman that Megan was, the depth and character of her and her love for the Lord. Also, she's very intelligent and very funny, she's gorgeous and they can talk for hours. I was really excited when he invited her to attend our Cinco De Mayo party this spring.
He also invited her over for our 4th of July breakfast.
And we all walked down to the park together.
They look so happy, but they're still just friends here. This was just killing me!!! I wanted them to be together so bad, but they weren't letting anything on and I had to keep my mouth shut!

After the 4th of July celebration, he told us that he invited Megan to join us on our annual Umpqua River camping trip. I looked at him and teared up and quickly hugged him. I told him I was so happy and so excited for him! I knew that he would never invite her unless he was falling in love with her again. I was soooooo happy!
So Megan came with us on the river camp trip, although they were still not together.
They did, however, have a great time together and she fit right in with our family!
They jumped right in!
And had a blast!
They talked a lot about their relationship.
And he finally asked her! Yea!!! He looks like he knows what a catch he has!
I have been praying since they broke up that if it was God's will they would get back together. I just had this deep feeling that they were made for each other and that they would get together. I'm so happy for them and so thankful to the Lord for bringing my son such a sweet and perfect girl!

Our 30th Anniversary night....

We recently celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary! Click here to read about our love story.
Two years ago we talked about planning a trip to Hawaii for our 30th, but as the time grew closer and we realized it's the same year that our youngest graduated from high school and was hoping to play college football, we didn't want to plan anything for that same summer; we knew that too much would be going on and we didn't know the timing of all of it.  We decided to plan it for next spring. I sure hope we will be able to go! We were invited to go to Utah with our friends and stay in a beautiful vacation home for several days the week after we took our last born off to college, so we said that would be part of our anniversary celebration. On the actual day of our anniversary we went out on a fun dinner date to Red Lobster.
We got this sweet card in the mail from Eric's parents.
To our surprise, he had a $100.00 dollar bill inside! Wasn't that so sweet of them!
Eric and I really enjoyed our evening.
We talked a lot about our love story, our life, our children and our many blessings. We are so thankful for our marriage and the life the Lord has given us. It's wonderful that we are still in love after all of these years!
We are truly blessed!

"Let marriage be held in honor among all." Hebrews 13:4a
