This blog is simply the story about my little life
with my sweet family that the Lord has blessed me with
and the day in, day out things that we do.
It basically is my online diary/photo album of our life.
I'm glad you're here!

I will be gone for a few days.....

Hi Friends,

My faithful Apple computer is at the Mac Hospital getting surgery! We had a crazy snow storm Wednesday and we lost power for 7 hours. When it came back on my computer would not boot up. I took it to the Mac Store where they said it needs a little nip and tuck surgery. We are hoping it will be discharged on Monday night or Tuesday. I am praying that our files can be retrieved, especially my photos! I do have them saved on a external drive, but they were so nicely organized on the Apple. I learned three big lessons: 1. Buy a surge protector. 2. Buy another external hard drive and save ALL things on computer. 3. Turn off computer during storms!

I wonder if God is teaching me a lesson here to not love my computer, photos, blog, facebook, pinterest too much! I want to keep everything in perspective. I want to always put God first in my life.  I still have a little bit of connection to the world wide web through my son's laptop, which I am thankful for, but I don't really like it, I'm a big computer kind of girl! lol

I'm on vacation from work and am planning on hanging out near home. Hayden and I are going to go to the coast or do something fun and I want to clean our horribly messy, scary bonus room that makes us look like out of control hoarders!

I hope that all of you will have a wonderful spring break!

Our Saint Patrick's Day Celebration!

Here are some pictures from our St. Patrick's day holiday this year.
This is just a cheap wreath that I found at the dollar store for one buck. Even though it's cheap and a little cheesy, I think it looks good on the red door and I like it.
I placed a few green dishes and pretty things on the kitchen counter next to the beautiful roses that my sister gave me when she came for a visit.
This decoration is fast, cheap and easy. I simply placed a green pillar candle on a shamrock dish and tied green ribbon around it and added a bejeweled clover.
My cute green glass bunny is sitting on some green ivy and shamrock plates.
I love this little glass shamrock. It's so tiny, I can't imagine what it was intended for, but I put some green candies in it.
Here's a fun little corner of leprechauns.
This whimsical cup is a new find this year. I filled it with chocolate gold coins. Notice the little shamrocks all around the base of the cup.
Isn't this leprechaun fabulous! I love the colorful mushrooms all around him too!
My windowsill display.
A friendly, hard working leprechaun.
I think these two little guys are so sweet. I'm not sure, but I think they could be Hallmark.
More green!
Here's my bookshelf.
He's a fun guy!
I love how this display turned out this year. I love the Friendship plate. It's new, but it has such a vintage flare to it. I found it at Goodwill for $1.49.
I filled this sweet little shamrock dish with green candies.
I found this little boy and the girl below at a garage sale for .25 cents each!
I knew they would be perfect in my St. Patty's day display!
I placed a few things in the powder room as well. I put some cherry blossoms in a little green vase to top it off.
Irish coffee anyone?
So now that the house is all decorated, it's time for the family to arrive for an Irish feast! I hung a fun St. Patty's banner that I found for one dollar at the dollar store.
This is the same day that I had my friend Sarah's baby shower, so I didn't have time to make dessert.
I cheated and bought these cute red-velvet cupcakes.
We used our green china and crystal.
I served ham, asparagus and Brittany made au-gratin potatoes and a beautiful green salad.
I love, love, love Sunday dinners with the family!
Cameron's acting like his asparagus is a cigar!
Brittany's ready to eat!
Three of my boys. It's sad because Hayden misses a lot of our gatherings because he has to work. I remember that all of my sons had to do this as well. As soon as he's done with school he will be able to change his schedule and start joining us. I'm thankful that he gets to come to a lot of them and I'm also thankful that he has a good job and that he's a hard worker.
Mackenzie and Brittany.
Eric and me. We are truly blessed. Happy late St. Patty's day everyone!

Hayden's first track meet!

We went to Hayden's first track meet last Thursday. He was nervous to see how he would do! He was going to be running the 100 and 200 meter races. Here he is before he raced with his friend Colton.
Well, the first race he ran was the 100 and he took first place in his heat, but they had three heats, so he did not know how well he did. Click on the photo to enlarge, it's a pretty cool picture. Eric and I were standing at the finish line cheering him on. He looked so fast! Check out the score board, they used it as a timer, and we were so thrilled to see that it said 10.98! I knew it was not an official time, but it was pretty close! The best time he ever got on this race was a 12.15, so this was exciting!
After his race I went up in the stands and talked to him. While we were sitting there they calculated the winner and announced that he took first place with an 11.68! Not only did he win, but he also PRd (he got a personal record)!!! He was sitting in the stands with all of his buddies sitting around him when he heard the news.  He was grinning ear to ear and through his big smile he said, "I can't believe it! I've never gotten first place before!" His reaction was so genuine and so humble. His friends were all congratulating him and I hugged him and then I snapped this picture. Doesn't he look happy!
Right after that he said, "Where's Dad?" I told him that he was down on the track watching the other events. He jumped up and said I want to tell him I took first. Of course being the big photographer that I am, I quickly followed him down to the track where he found his Dad. This picture is just so precious to me where he is so proudly telling his Dad that he got first. It's just priceless. I love their relationship. Eric is such a good father to all of our sons and shares in their successes like this as well as be there for support when they need it.
The next race was the 200!
Again, he was looking strong and took first place in his heat.
He was happy with the way he ran.
He's walking back to the officials to see his time.
Cute kid!
He's talking to the official timer and he found out he PRd again and got a 23.28! His best time before this was 24.92, so he has improved a lot.
He was done running and we were going to ride home with us, but he wanted to wait and see where he placed in the 2.
It cracked me up when I looked and saw him and Eric standing there talking and waiting. Look at their stances, they are identical! Like father, like son! We learned that Hayden took first in the 200 as well! Good job Hayden!!! We are so proud of you!
I was so very proud that he took first place in two races, but I was even more proud that this is what he wrote on Facebook..."Never thought I could get two first places! Praise the Lord!" I am so touched that he gave God the glory!!!!
We are so excited to see how the rest of the track season goes! I could not be more proud!

Buying their love...

If you want to hang out with your 18 year old son who's a senior in high school, ya gotta do what ya gotta do! I admit it, I buy his love! haha! I texted my son on the first day of spring break while I was at work and asked him if him and his friend would like to meet me at the Astronaut Inn and I'd buy their lunch.  He replied that they would like that. I met them there and we had a great lunch and a nice visit.

I'm so thankful that the Lord inspires me with ideas like this. I have done things like this with all of my sons and I love it!

This is a great way to hang out with your kids. The saying is "If you build it, they will come." Well, I say, "If you feed them, they will come!" Haha!

Bag Lady brunch at Virginia's!

My girlfriend, Virginia, hosted a lovely brunch for our fun women's group called the Bag Ladies.
For a hostess gift I brought her this beautiful potted plant.
As soon as we got there we had coffee.
I love her cute kitchen!
She said, "Just grab a cup out of the cabinet" When I opened the cabinet, I thought, be still my heart, she's a woman after my own heart with a huge coffee cup collection!
She likes these earthy "hippy" cups from the 70s. I love them! They look like they were sold at street markets and fairs.
I brought a bunch of photos from our trip we all had together last summer. It was fun to look at them. Here's Virginia and Laurie looking them over.
Kathleen, Me and Virginia visiting.
Kathleen, Virginia and Laurie.
Brenda and Laurie. We were missing two Bag Ladies, Eileen and Gail.
Look at her pretty table setting!
I love these strawberry dishes!
They look so bright and cheery, especially with the red chargers under them and with the pretty red napkin and ruby napkin holder! I do believe I will be on the hunt for these dishes now! Haha!
Virginia made yummy french toast, Kathleen brought the eggs and sausage and I brought the fruit salad.
We had a delicious meal and wonderful conversation!
I'll give you a little tour of Virginia's house. Virginia and her husband collect antiques and they have many beautiful pieces. I especially love this antique piano!
She has a lovely display of family pictures in a variety of interesting and beautiful frames!
There are pretty things everywhere!
Their home is so pretty, warm and inviting.
I LOVE this awesome antique oak glass front bookshelf! I really would like to get one of these some day.
Virginia's husband, Ed, is a civil war buff and antique lover. He has a beautiful collection of very old and rare books.
Pretty and cozy!
I love this ornate hutch!
Wow! Isn't it pretty! And it's filled with lots of pretty things too!
Like this lovely lady!
And this gorgeous silver coffee urn. Now I'm going to be on the hunt for one of these too!
I thought this little vignette was so cute! That's a real working phone!
Pretty teacups all in a row!
This is her gorgeous buffet in the entryway. I love Virgini's house.
I love getting together with the girls, we always have so much fun!
Friends....such a blessing!
