Welcome to my blog! I hope you enjoy reading about my busy life with my husband of 30 years and our four sons and daughter-in-law. We are now empty nesters and my blog is helping me through the journey. I love the Lord and I love my family. I also love to decorate and go to thrift stores!
A month ago my husband and I took a really fun road trip to Utah.
Our good friends, Mike and Rhochelle invited us and the timing couldn't be better! We had just celebrated our 30th anniversary the week before and a few days before we left on this trip we took our youngest son off to college and we were now empty nesters.
We decided to drive rather than fly and it's a 13 hour trip, so we broke up the trip a bit and stayed in Boise.
We saw lots of desert!
And we saw lots of vegetation too! We saw lots of fun and interesting things.
haha! I gave myself a manicure and pedicure for the trip and used these fun blue shades!
The drive went really smoothly and went by fast.
Of course it helped time to fly by listening to Voice to Spirit, which is son and daughter-in-laws amazing music!
We finally made it to Idaho! We got to the hotel in Boise and settled in and then went out to dinner.
We were like two love birds!
We had a very romantic dinner at a gorgeous restaurant.
Then we went back to the hotel room and watched the Olympics!
We got up really early again and hit the road at 7:00am.
We met Mike and Rochelle in Salt Lake City. They flew in and then rented a car. We met them near the airport and they jumped in our car with us and we drove up to the Kennecott Copper Mine. It was so great to see them!
This place was fantastic!
It's an open-pit mining operation extracting copper deposits.
This man made canyon is breathtaking!
They have created the deepest open-pit mine in the world! To give you perspective, I will zoom in on the picture above, cropping it to the lower left hand corner, take a look.....
....that's a school bus there in the center! That's crazy!
It was so fun to see all of these giant trucks and machines working! To give you another perspective on how big these trucks are....
...this is a tire off of one of them! Oh my word, I've never seen a tire so big!
After the mine we went to Applebee's for lunch and then headed up to the house we were staying at in Park City.
Here it is! Our home sweet home for the next few days. The company that Mike works for owns this beautiful place and he was able to get it for us for the week!
We could not believe it!
It was so beautiful!
And so big!!!
I love all of the rustic beams and rock-work. It is a fabulous home!
The view of the foothills was breathtaking!
That's our pool down below! Wow!
The house had three master suits!
This is Mike and Rhochelle's.
Down this little hall is another master bedroom.
It has a Jack and Jill type of bathroom hooked to a child's room.
Down stairs they have a large family room.
And a cool huge bathroom with....
There's also a big room full of three sets of bunk beds.
And this is the mater bedroom that we chose.
I called it the Dynasty room because the furniture was so early 80s. lol.
This was our nice big bathroom. We loved our room!
After we all got settled, we decided to go to downtown Park City to get some dinner. It was such a busy fun place! We looked in all the shops and bought a few gifts for our kids.
Then we went to a lovely restaurant and had a delicious meal outside.
These two have been good friends since they were in grade school!
This guy was playing the guitar and he was so good! He played Summer Breeze which is one of my all time favorite songs and was perfect for our evening! Check out his double-necked guitar!
Oh this feeling is so wonderful!
...walking at dusk....
....with our great friends......
....enjoying ourselves in this beautiful city on a hot summer night....
....knowing that we have 3 whole more days of vacation!!!
"And he said to them,“Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” Mark 6:31a
