Welcome to my blog! I hope you enjoy reading about my busy life with my husband of 30 years and our four sons and daughter-in-law. We are now empty nesters and my blog is helping me through the journey. I love the Lord and I love my family. I also love to decorate and go to thrift stores!
Hayden had the day off from school and I had to work, so I left him a note saying I'd like to take him out for lunch if he'd like. He called me and said, "Na, let's don't go out, why don't you just come home for lunch." When I got there he told me to stay out of the kitchen for a minute while he finished. When he let me in I found this sweet lunch all prepared for me! Isn't that thoughtful! I thought it was so cute how he carefully sliced the bananas. You can't tell from the picture, but there are mandarin oranges under the bananas too. What a sweetie-pie! We sat and ate together and visited. I just love that boy!
I'm such a blessed mama!
"I will praise the name of God with song, And shall magnify Him with thanksgiving."Psalm 69:30
I'm still sick. I have a very bad cough. I worked yesterday and had two major cough attacks. It was embarrassing. It doesn't look good to be hacking like that at a doctor's office in front of the patients! I am resting, taking lots of vitamin C and echinacea, orange juice, chicken soup and at night I take Alka-Seltzer Plus, which helps me sleep until 2:00 am when I cough and then I take cough syrup. Ugh, I'm so done with this. I pray that I will get better. I have so much to do and all I want to do is lay on the couch. It gets me down, but I know it will pass. Maybe God is telling me to rest and spend more time with Him.
Anyway, for some fun news, I got my hair done last week and my hairdresser, Nancy, gave me a new style. I took these pictures as soon as I got home so I would remember how to do it.
It's basically the same cut but with some added layers to give my hair a little oomph.
I have always had thin hair, but since I hit my 40s, it has gotten much thinner. The layers actually help to make it look thicker.
She also ratted the top to give me a little bump. I love it!
I remember we did this about 10 years ago and I think it's such a cute look!
I left there feeling really good. I like my new hair. I hope I can style it myself! It looks healthier and I feel more hip and sassy!
God has been so good! He is so faithful. He has answered so many prayers, big ones and little ones. I totally rely on Him in my life. He never ceases to amaze me with how He cares about the things in my life and the lives of my loved ones. We serve a mighty God!
Thank you for those who have prayed for me to get well. I sure hope I will be better tomorrow. Hope all of you are having a great week.

The boys tried their hardest, but we lost. :0( Here's Eric hugging Hayden right after the game.
First I'll tell you how our day started. Hayden actually left the night before with the team and they spent the night in a hotel. Eric and I drove 3 hours to the school were the State basketball game was. This was in a town where his grandmother and all of his cousins were raised, so we called them and met one of his cousins at his home. This is Eric's cousin Steven with his wife Carolyn.
They were really nice and took us out to lunch! It was so good to see them and visit with them. Then we headed over to the school to watch the big game.
Here's the boys warming up.
Getting ready to announce the Bulldogs!
One last team chant before the game starts.
We were so proud of Hayden. He had one of his best games ever.
He got to play a lot.
He was really aggressive and got about five steals!
He made some nice baskets too!
When he got in there we were behind by 18 and he helped close in the gap to 9 points.
He even got a 3 pointer!!! You should have seen the look on his face when he made it! It was priceless!
He helped a lot, but the team just could not do it.
We lost by 11 points.
Eric hugging Hayden.
Hayden was a bit bummed, but he was fine.
It was a season to be proud of and he had one of his best games. We are proud of our son. It's pretty neat that his football went to State and so did his basketball team!
So, basketball season is over forever in our household, but it's okay. It did not hit me as hard as when football was over. Now we move on to track season!
"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3:17
We've had an interesting time this year watching our son play varsity basketball. Here's a great shot of him in our local newspaper making a great lay-in.
This season was bittersweet for Hayden, Eric and I for a couple of reasons.
The first is that at the beginning of the season Hayden was not playing that much and it was not very much fun for him. (click here to read more about it).
The second reason is that this is the last time we will be watching any of our kids playing basketball. We've been watching our boys basketball games for about 15 years and it will be over forever. Eric and I went to almost every single one of his games; we only missed a couple that were 2 hours away. We have always watched all of our boys doing their sports or other performances.
Hayden is a good basketball player and he's fun to watch.
At the beginning of the season he didn't play that much, but towards the second half of the season he started playing him more.
My husband's sister, Stacey and her husband, Jim came to watch a game.
Looking back on the season, it was difficult to go to a game and only see him play for 5 minutes, but we encouraged him to hang in there.
His attitude was really amazing. He told us that he feels like God is preparing him for something else later in life. I'm so proud of his attitude!
He went to every practice, he talked with his coach and he hung in there.
Here's all the guys after a huge win!
Mackenzie, Brittany, Eric and his father.
Brittany and I.
Hayden being the "chest bumper" at the beginning of the game.
It's fun watching the games with the family.
There are a lot of things about basketball games that I will miss. The cheerleaders are fun to watch.
Here's Hayden throwing the ball back in.
Dribbling down the court.
He just made a fast break and got a great lay-in!
Well, now it's senior night, and I can't believe it's already here. This is the last home game of the season and the parents of each senior player honors them with balloons and candy before the game. I was kind of sad when I bought his stuff at the store.
This is the last time we will walk down these halls for a game.
Lots of good times and memories.
Everyone in town is there and we see many of our friends.
Jim and Alice came to this last game.
Cameron came too.
And so did Grayson.
I am so happy that my mother-n-law got to come to the game. She has always supported all of our kids games and events. Even though she's in a wheelchair now, the boys helped her into the stands and she enjoyed the game.
They called Eric and I and Hayden down to the gym floor where we presented him with his balloons and candy. He wrote a sweet tribute to us and they read it over the loud speaker. For his goals he said that he was going to go to college, get a job, get married and have kids and then probably move out of Mom and Dad's house! haha! Everyone cracked up!
We're proud of him!
There was four senior boys on the team who were honored. It was fun.
Hayden got to be a starter for Senior Night.
It was really fun to watch him.
Wow, he can jump high!
He had another great game.
Woot-woo! Nice basket Hayden!
After the game Hayden came over to say high to everyone.
I love these pictures of true emotion when he sees his grandma. I also love this because you see Cameron, Grayson and Eric all helping her so she wont fall. It's so loving and sweet.
Grandpa was happy too.
I love these pictures.
I'm so proud of my son!
I got a picture of him with his buddies, Taylor and Aaron.
They've all been friends since kindergarten!
Hayden's so funny, in the first pictures he was up on his tippy toes! They are a few inches taller than him! haha!
Taylor and Hayden checking out their candy.
Here's the same photo I showed in the beginning of this post of Hayden in the newspaper, but I got this one of their website. I just love this picture!
So, basketball is over....or is it??? The regular season is over, but I have big news to share tomorrow!
