This blog is simply the story about my little life
with my sweet family that the Lord has blessed me with
and the day in, day out things that we do.
It basically is my online diary/photo album of our life.
I'm glad you're here!

Father's Day...

We had a pretty low-key Father's day this year, but it was the day that my husband, the father of our four sons, wanted to have. We started out like most every Sunday morning with coffee, computer, newspaper, homemade breakfast and an episode of his favorite fishing show "Hawg Quest" on TV.
After breakfast Eric prepared salmon fillets to be smoked. For Father's day he went fishing the Friday and Saturday prior and got a big ol' hawg himself. He filleted it all out Saturday afternoon and soaked them all night in a brine. So this morning before church he laid them on cookie sheets and rubbed them with his special spices and seasonings.
Here he is holding his Chinook Salmon. He was camping on the boat (click here to read more about that) and his friend, JR, who was in a boat next to him took this picture.
Here he is walking into church.
We heard a great sermon about fathers.
When Eric got home he got a very special gift! The boys all pooled their money together and bought him a new barbecue/smoker! They wanted to give it to him this evening at our family dinner, but they realized he was going to be smoking the salmon, so they gave it to him early.
Grayson was the only one home at the time, so he was helping Eric assemble it. Blondie's helping too!
Eric's busy reading the directions.
Eric putting the racks inside and Grayson's attaching the handles. I know these are random pictures, but these are the moments I like to remember; these seemingly boring, every day events are really the things that make up our lives and I like to stop and soak them in and appreciate them. Grayson is going to be moving out soon and he will not always be around here to help Eric like this.
Grayson put Blondie in the box that the barbecue came in and she surprisingly liked it and stayed there! She's so funny!
Eric put briquettes in it with wood chips and laid all the salmon in side fired her up!
Later on Mackenzie and Brittany stopped by. They had a prior commitment that evening, so they could not stay for dinner. They brought him a nice card and a plate of something special........
Brittany made him delicious homemade oatmeal cookies!
Here's Eric with each one of our boys on Father's day, Mackenzie.....
....Grayson and......
....Hayden. This is the good stuff. This is the reward. Eric is reaping what he sowed. All four of our sons are amazing men who are productive citizens and love and respect their father! Later on that evening we had a delicious steak dinner with delicious fresh smoked salmon and we watched True Grit.
We are both so very thankful for our own Father's too. Here's a picture taken a few months ago of Eric with his wonderful Dad, Jim.
And here's a picture of me with my amazing Dad, Leonard, about two years ago.
The good influence of these two men has been passed down to two generations now and their legacy will continue on through future generations.

Eric had a great Father's day! I am so very thankful that my husband has been such a wonderful father to our boys. Being a good father is such an important thing and I am so thankful for my husband and our two Dads!

"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!" I John 3:1

You have such a beautiful family Sharon, and you have a great heritage to draw from and, as seen, Eric is an example of an excellent father to the boys. His values and steadfast love will be past on. I love you, Kathi
