This blog is simply the story about my little life
with my sweet family that the Lord has blessed me with
and the day in, day out things that we do.
It basically is my online diary/photo album of our life.
I'm glad you're here!

Our anniversary get away!

Eric and I recently celebrated our 28th year wedding anniversary!
On the night of our anniversary we went out to dinner, but we decided to have a weekend getaway trip a few weeks later. We packed our bags and headed to the Oregon coast! We are driving to Lincoln City and are staying at a casino resort. We got our special coffees and put our favorite CD, Voice to Spirit (our son Mackenzie and his wife Brittany's CD) in the stereo and we hit the road!
We drove for awhile and finally saw the ocean!
Isn't it gorgeous! Isn't MY MISTER gorgeous!!!
There's our hotel!!!
We got a room right on the beach!
Here's the view from our room!
Eric's checking out the casino activities and menus.
This is such a fun get away for us!
We called and the shuttle bus came and picked us up and took us right to the front doors of the casino.
As soon as we got in there we hit the slot machines.
We have no idea what we're doing, but it's fun!
We were hungry, so we decided to eat a nice dinner in the restaurant. We started with clams on the half shell for  appetizers.
This is the view from our table...isn't the sunset amazing!
For the main course we both ordered prime rib, asparagus and baked potatoes.
It was a very delicious...
...and romantic dinner!
After dinner we gambled some more.
It was fun, but I really didn't understand it and we didn't win any money. We tried a bunch of different games and then it was time for bed.
The next morning we woke up to the sun streaming through our window.
We heard the roar of the ocean! I love the soothing sounds of the waves breaking on the beach.
Coffee for two!
The fresh salty sea air smells so good! It's a beautiful sunny day!
Okay, I've got on my lucky shirt, lets go gamble!
Eric says, "Okay, lucky lady, but how about we eat some breakfast first!"
The casino had the largest breakfast buffet I've ever seen and it was only $7.95 each!
They had every kind of breakfast food you could imagine.
They also made fresh omelets right there for us!
Look at all this food! And these two are both just my plates! You should see Eric's!
While we were eating a girl kept walking around the room saying, "Keno?" Keno?"We didn't know what it was so we asked her and we she told us it is a betting game and explained all about it. We decided to give it a try!
Hey, there's our numbers! We won!!! We won!!!!
We won $1.00!!! Whoot wooo!!!!
Last night the casino was really crowded, so I didn't take any pictures, but this morning it was pretty empty so I snapped a few pictures.
It's really pretty, it looks like you're outside in the forest! Their flyer states that it is owned and operated by the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians of Oregon, the spirit of the Tribe is captured in the decor of the facility.
You can see a beautiful Eagle tending to her nest at the top of this fir tree.
While I was playing keno, Eric hit the slot machines again.
He actually won $50.21, but he doesn't know how he did it! :0) He just kept pushing buttons! We officially made more money than we spent! Eric said, "Let's get out of here while we're ahead!"
So he cashed in his chips and we said good-bye to the casino. I'm thankful that gambling is not our thing! It was really fun being there, but it was full of cigarette smoke and it just has a feel of "seediness" to it. It's sad when people get addicted to it and it can ruin their lives as well as the lives of their loved ones.
On the way back to the hotel we decided to take a little walk on the beach.
First we walked down these quaint stairs to get to the ocean.
Wow! Isn't it gorgeous!
That's something really great about the Oregon coast is that the water is so cold and it's usually quite windy, so there's usually hardly anyone on the beaches! Today we were so blessed with sunshine and this beautiful blue sky!
Happy 28th anniversary to us!
On the way home we decided to shop and no shopping trip is complete without going to Goodwill!
Eric didn't find anything, but I found a neat cookbook and some cute fall decorations.
After that we went to the outlet mall.
We got coffees and walked around holding hands. I loved it! He bought me the most beautiful red wool pea coat with matching red leather purse for an early birthday present.
We took the coastal highway on the way home. It was beautiful.
We stopped and had a delicious lunch at a quaint little place. No trip to the coast is complete without fresh clam chowder! Mmmmm!
Now it's time to head back home. We had such a great time together; what a perfect get away for us! I love my husband and I love spending time with him like this! Happy anniversary honey!

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.." I Corinthians 13:4-8

Hugs, Sharon
