This blog is simply the story about my little life
with my sweet family that the Lord has blessed me with
and the day in, day out things that we do.
It basically is my online diary/photo album of our life.
I'm glad you're here!

A major award!

I just had to share this funny story. Do you guys know about the famous "Major Award" leg lamp?
It comes from this great Christmas movie, called A Christmas Story. This is one of our family's favorite Christmas movies. If you have not seen it, I highly recommend it.
Anyway, in the story the husband wins a "Major Award" and when it comes in the mail much to the wife's disgust, it turns out to be a horrendous lamp made in the shape of a woman's leg.
It was in very bad taste with a black fish net stocking on it!
The mom was not happy to say the least.
The dad thought it was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen and he displayed it proudly in the front living room picture window! The story is about much more than the lamp, and it really is a cute Christmas story that you should watch., but the reason I told you about it is this.......
.....this is my son Cameron's Christmas list. As a joke he wrote down, which I highlighted above,  "A major award (like maybe a lamp that I could put in my window).
Well to my happy surprise, after seeing this on his Christmas list, I found a miniature version of the leg lamp that's actually a Christmas ornament at a thrift store! I just started laughing when I found it and snagged it up! This will be perfect!!!!
On Christmas morning when he opened it, he just cracked up laughing!  He couldn't believe  that I actually found one! We all got a good laugh of out it and we were all surprised when it actually turned on! Perfect! This is a Major Award indeed!

Our Christmas day!

Eric's sister, Stacey, and her husband Jim and her two kids,Monique and Preston drove down from another town to be with us for Christmas dinner. Eric's parents also came over. Here's Stacey, Monique, Brittany and I all together.
Stacey and Monique.
My beautiful mother-in-law, Alice with Jim's mother, Fran. We were so happy that she could join us too!
Monique, Alice and Fran.
We started off with appetizers.
Eric with his father, Jim.
The two Jims! Eric's father and Eric's brother-in-law.
Preston and Grayson.
Grandma talking with Hayden.
We had a nice time visiting and catching up before dinner.
We had lots of yummy snacks!
Preston, Grayson and Hayden hanging out.
Me with Alice and Fran.
Time to exchange gifts!
Eric's folks gave him a new riffle!
It's so much fun to watch others open gifts!
Good times!
Happy times!
Since Cameron's girlfriend, Megan, was not with us on Christmas morning, she's opening her gifts now.
We bought her a new red hat with matching scarf and gloves.
They look good on her!
Mmmm! It's time to eat!
Eric smoked a beautiful prime rib and we also baked a ham!
What a delicious spread!
Grandpa's loading up his plate!
Alice and Jim enjoying their meal!
What great food!
Time for a family game!
We played a guessing game.
We broke in to two teams.
It's kind of like 20 questions and charades.
We had soooo much fun!
It's my turn to give clues....
....except I'm stumped on what to do!
Grandpa's turn!
Grayson's having fun!
Grandma insisted on standing to give her clue, but she's unstable on her feet, so Hayden helped her. We had such a fun time. I love our family!!!!
It's hard to believe that Christmas has come and gone once again. It was a lovely season this year. We are so blessed!
