Welcome to my blog! I hope you enjoy reading about my busy life with my husband of 30 years and our four sons and daughter-in-law. We are now empty nesters and my blog is helping me through the journey. I love the Lord and I love my family. I also love to decorate and go to thrift stores!
He had to re-finish the bottom of his drift boat. First though, he had to remove the old protective cover that was on it.
First he used the sander and got most of it off, but there were some stubborn areas that still remained.
So he got out the hand torch and warmed the gooey stuff...
...and started scraping it
This worked pretty well, but it was time consuming.
He decided to go back to using the hand sander.
This was a big project.
Wow, this coating is stubborn!
Now he has to sand it some more.
Finally you can see the stainless steel bottom.
It's actually really pretty.
The last step is to paint on a new coat of the bottom coating.
He had to do a couple of coats of this.
He worked hard on this project over a couple of weeks and he was so happy when he was done. This will give the boat many more years. Doing maintenance work our things is tedious and not exactly fun, but it really helps lengthen the life of them.
